We made it!

After almost 24 hours of travel we made it to Rissho University, which is north of downtown Tokyo. It is very humid here. It took us over two hours to drive from the airport throught downtown Tokyo to here. There was a nasty thunderstorm when we arrived around 8:00 PM Saturday night, around 4:00 AM at home. The university mens baseball team carried all of our luggage up to our floor in the dormitory while we went for supper.

The dorm is small. We must take our shoes off outside the dorm and we are to wear slippers in the room. Each room is quite small, with its own airconditioning unit to keep the room cool. My room is okay and the air conditioner turns itself off after an hour or so, which requires me to turn it on again. There is no television set here.

Sunday morning I went for a walk around the campus and saw the ball diamond. The infield is dirt and the outfield is artificial turf. The university mens team was dragging the infield with brooms and a wooden scrapper thing. They were also sweeping the foul areas and cleaning around the stands and dugouts. A number of players stopped, took off their hats and bowed to me saying some type of Japanese greeting. I bowed back and said hello to them.

I have the day free and will work games on Monday and Tuesday – which are Sunday and Monday nights at home.

There is no wireless internet here so posting blogs/notices will be hit and miss. We will get to a hotel by Wednesday so I hope to post more notices.

Glad you arrived safe and sound!!
    Enjoy your time there.
If you are taught a few words in Japanese, be sure you’ve been told what they “really” mean, lol.
