Day 3 in Japan

Day 2, for me was very uneventful. A lot of sitting around so news to report. Day 3, on the other hand was something different.

I umpired my first game here. It is hot and humid. Five innings on the plate was what I worked. We had an agreement with a local umpire that I would do the first five and he would do the last three. Fortunately that was a good arrangement. The humidity took a lot out of me.

After the game, the Rissho University baseball staff invited the Team Canada coaching staff, including me, to a traditional Japanese supper. Lots of raw fish, sushi, tempura, snail, and sake amongst other things. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The people here are very polite and do whatever they can to make us feel comfortable. We have one more game today at the university. Then we had into the Tokyo to get ready for the tournament.
